Guinea expels former BBC reporter
The authorities in Guinea have expelled a former correspondent of the BBC's African Service, Foday Fofanah, who also worked for an independent newspaper in the capital, Conakry. A judge ordered his expulsion on Wednesday after he'd been held in detention without charge for three months. Mr Fofanah was escorted across the border from Guinea to his native Sierra Leone. Journalists in Guinea have accused the government of targeting reporters who are critical of the administration in the run-up to forthcoming elections.. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
