New mayor for Sarajevo

A Bosnian Muslim has been elected as the new mayor of Sarajevo after almost two years of negotiations over power-sharing.

The city council unanimously supported Rasim Gacanovic for the post; a Bosnian Croat, Ante Zelic, was elected his deputy.

The last mayor, also a Muslim, resigned after the main Muslim party ,the Party of Democratic Action, SDA,fell out with its Croat allies.
