The city council unanimously supported Rasim Gacanovic for the post; a Bosnian Croat, Ante Zelic, was elected his deputy. The last mayor, also a Muslim, resigned after the main Muslim party ,the Party of Democratic Action, SDA,fell out with its Croat allies. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
