IMF boss will go to S Korea
follows INDONESIA FINANCIAL CRISIS South Korea has disclosed that it expects to see Michel Camdessus in Seoul during his mission to Asia next week. The finance ministry said the IMF chief would have talks with the president-elect, Kim Dae-jung, and also hoped to meet trades union representatives. They have voiced strong opposition to parts of the IMF rescue plan for South Korea which includes, among other things, large- scale layoffs of industrial workers.
