French writer on trial for Holocaust denial

The prominent French author Roger Garaudy went on trial in Paris on Thursday accused of trivializing the Holocaust - the systematic murder of Jews by the Nazis during the Second World War, France Inter radio reported Garaudy is charged with "denying crimes against humanity" in connection with his book `The Founding Myths of Israeli Politics' published in 1996, in which he questioned whether six million Jews were killed and whether the gas chambers existed.
