Chinese swimmers have drugs

Australian customs officials say they've seized what they believe to be illegal drugs from a Chinese swimming team.

A spokesman said the drugs were found in the team's luggage as they arrived to take part in the World championships in Perth.

No one was detained over the incident. The BBC correspondent in Sydney says some of drugs contained a substitute for anabolic steroids, which are widely rumoured to have helped the Chinese swimmers in their recent record performances.

The drugs have now been sent to a laboratory for analysis.
