Algeria wants Europe to stop "terrorists"
INCORPORATING 0700 AR/AF ALGERIA AMBASSADOR A senior Algerian diplomat has said the best way the European Union can help his country end the recent massacres of civilians would be to break up what he called the terrorists' support network in Europe. The Algerian ambassador to the United Nations, Abdalla Baali, said in a BBC interview a number of countries had already taken action, but he said Britain and Scandinavia had not. On Thursday, Algeria agreed that the European Union could send a mission to discuss ways of combatting terrorism. But the Algerian Foreign Minister, Ahmed Attaf, repeated his government's objection to any international inquiry into the massacres. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
