Indonesian currency falls again

The Indonesian currency, the rupiah, has again fallen sharply in value against the dollar.

Shortly after the currency markets opened today, Thursday, the rupiah reached a new low of nine-thousand-five-hundred to the dollar, before recovering slightly.

The rupiah has lost half its value over the past month.

In other trading: the Singapore and Taiwanese dollars rose slightly, along with the Philippine peso and the Japanese yen; the Malaysian ringgit was stable; the South Korean won and the Thai baht both fell.
