Khatami denies Iran seeking nuclear weapons
President Khatami also denied that Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons, but he said it had the right to have access to peaceful nuclear energy. He said allegations that Iran was seeking to acquire nuclear weapons were a pretext used by certain countries to create what he called panic and distrust. President Khatami said Iran was a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and would abide by international regulations. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
