New Chernobyl warning
There's a new warning that the concrete shell covering the damaged nuclear power station at Chernobyl in Ukraine is in danger of collapse. The deputy director of the station, Valentin Kupny, said that the container which was built after the explosion in 1986 was in a catastrophic state and in danger of crumbling. He said none of the repairs needed had been carried out. Correspondents say that so far only about half of the estimated 760 million dollars required to make Chernobyl safe has been raised.
