New Mexican Foreign Minister
The president of Mexico, Ernesto Zedillo, has named a senator of the governing party the PRI, Rosario Green, as the new foreign minister, the first woman to hold the post. In her acceptance speech, Mrs Green vowed to continue to build a strong relationship with the United States and ensure that Mexico would be heard and respected around the world. Mrs Green will replace Jose Angel Gurria who was appointed Mexico's new minister of Finance on Monday. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
