More die in new Rwanda massacres
The Rwandan authorities say at least forty civilians were killed in attacks on two villages on Monday night. A military spokesman Colonel Balthazar Ndengeyinka blamed Hutu rebels for the killings. He said fourteen people had died in Nyabikenke, north of Gitarama, and at least twenty-six in nearby Nyakabanda. The spokesman said the victims were Tutsis as well as Hutus who had been accused of collaborating with the Tutsi-led government. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
