Vietnam executes corrupt officials

Three men have been executed in Vietnam for their part in one of the country's biggest corruption scandals.

They were shot by firing squad at dawn.

The three were convicted a year ago of embezzling fifty million dollars from a company, Tamexco, with close links to the governing Vietnamese Communist Party.

They included the director of the firm Pham Huy Phuoc who was said to have personally stolen twenty-six million dollars.

Seventeen other defendants were jailed for their part in the scandal.
