Ultra right-wing Czech MP arrested

The head of the Czech far-right Republican Party, Miroslav Sladek, was arrested on Tuesday evening as he was leaving the Chamber of Deputies building in Prague, the Czech news agency CTK reported, quoting a party spokesman.

Sladek was accompanied by the spokesman and his assistant when he was approached by several plain-clothes officers who asked Sladek to accompany them.

The officers then handcuffed Sladek and bundled him into a car, the spokesman said.

The agency gave no further details about the reasons for Sladek's arrest.
