Hungarian TV boss sacked
The chairman of Hungarian national television, Istvan Petak, has been sacked by the body overseeing the activities of the station. The head of the board of trustees , Andras Kovacs, told a news conference that Mr Petak had failed to prepare the station for competition from new commercial channels. He also accused him of financial mismanagement and breaching advertising regulations. The BBC correspondent in Budapest says that while no allegations of political bias were made against Mr Petak, his successor will face the difficult task of maintaining the station's objectivity in an election year.
