South Korean's sell gold to save economy
South Koreans have been queuing up at banks to sell or donate gold as part of efforts to save their country's economy. One-hundred-million dollars has already been raised in a campaign which will run until the end of the month to boost foreign exchange reserves. Officials from one of the campaign organisers, said no more information would be given on the amount raised, for fear of affecting international gold markets.
