Ford-Kenya opposition leader accepts results of presidential elections
Text of report by Kenyan KTN TV on 5th January
Ford [Forum for the Restoration of Democracy]-Kenya has accepted the results of the just-concluded general elections.
The immediate former leader of the opposition said Ford-Kenya will join other Kenyans in seeking solutions to problems facing the country. He, however, admitted that he was a signatory to a statement released earlier protesting over the management of the elections by the Electoral Commission.
[Wamalwa - recording] It's after very wide and careful consultations within the Ford-Kenya fraternity. We have also consulted with elders in every Ford-Kenya community, women's leaders, student and youth leaders.
We have therefore grudgingly come to the conclusion that, as flawed as the exercise was, as inefficient as the Electoral Commission of Kenya is, we have decided to accept the results of the just-concluded elections and to join hands with other Kenyans in addressing the urgent problems facing our nation at the moment.
