Emergency cold relief for Bangladesh's homeless
Aid agencies and officials in Bangladesh have started distributing emergency relief to millions of people badly affected by a wave of cold weather. Bangladesh has been experiencing some of the lowest temparatures for years causing deaths and illness, especially among the homeless. Ration packs have been sent to about fifty-thousand families, and truckloads of warm clothing are also being despatched. A thick fog over the country has also affected transport, with some flights cancelled and ferries delayed. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
