Yeltsin postpones India visit
The Russian president, Boris Yeltsin, has postponed a visit to India, planned for later this month, until the second half of the year. The Russian news agency, Interfax, quoted diplomatic sources as saying the change was due to what they called important political events in India, where parliamentary elections are due in February, following the collapse of the coalition government. A BBC correspondent says that President Clinton has also postponed his trip to India, but senior delegations from Italy, Poland, Germany, Greece and France are going ahead with their planned visits.
