Mexican judge sets free accused killers of American businessman

The United States embassy in Mexico has described as 'deeply disturbing' a decision by a Mexican judge to set free five youths accused of killing an American businessman during a robbery last month.

Mexican prosecutors have also criticised the judge's decision.

In setting free the five, the judge described one of them as a 'Robin Hood' figure who usually gave away anything he gained from crime.

The American, John Peter Zarate, was shot dead when his taxi stopped not far from his home in Mexico City.
