Rebels attack Colombian pipeline

Suspected left-wing rebels in Colombia have again attacked the country's main oil pipeline, forcing the suspension of pumping and causing some environmental damage.

The authorities have blamed guerrillas of the National Liberation Army ELNfor blowing-up part of the Cano Limon to Covenas line in Arauca province, north of Bogota.

Officials say they hope to reopen it by Wednesday.

There were about fifty attacks on the pipeline last year.

The National Liberation Army, which is Colombia's second-biggest guerrilla group, has often accused oil companies of unfairly exploiting the country's natural resources.
