New songs by the Rolling Stones found in a BBC archive

A previously unknown collection of songs performed by the rock and roll band The Rolling Stones has been found in the archives of the BBC here in London.

The thirteen songs -- written by rhythm-and-blues stars such as Bo Didley, Chuck Berry and Solomon Burke -- were specially recorded for BBC programmes in the early sixties but were then presumed to have been lost.

The songs are said to display all the angry energy of the young Stones at a time -- more than thirty years ago -- when they were bringing a new sound to rock music.
