Indonesia alcohol protest

Reports from Indonesia say two policemen have been injured during violent protests by crowds of Muslims in villages in East Java against houses and shops suspected of providing alcohol and prostitutes.

One report said the police were attacked after they fired shots in the air to try to prevent a mob from entering one of the villages Bondowoso.

Correspondents say that attacks on targets considered to be immoral occasionally occur in Indonesia during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which began last Wednesday.
