Warne passed the milestone when taking the wicket of Jacques Kallis as Australia crushed South Africa in the second test in Sydney.

Only four West Indians, three Englishmen, two Pakistanis, a New Zealander, an Indian and one other Australian have bagged a similar test haul.

Neville Oliver reports on Warne's feat (Dur: 0-44")
India's Kapil Dev is top of the list with 434 wickets, and was also the youngest to the target, achieving it the day after his 28th birthday.

Shane Warne is the second youngest at 28 years 114 days and he is also the fourth fastest to the milestone. Australian Dennis Lillee managed it in 56 tests, West Indian Malcolm Marshall and New Zealander Richard Hadlee took 61 matches, while Warne's total came in 63 tests.

Warne took 11 wickets for 109 as Australia beat South Africa by an innings and 21 runs in four days. The first test in Melbourne was a draw.

South Africa batted first and set Australia a total of 287. The Aussies hit 421 in their first innings and then bowled South Africa out for 113, with only Kallis (45), McMillan (11) and Symcox (38) achieving double figures.
