Swedish Prime Minister in Chile to sell planes
The Swedish Prime Minister, Goran Persson, is in Chile for a three-day official visit that could lead to the sale of Swedish fighter-planes to Chile. Mr Persson arrived in the capital, Santiago, with a delegation of aides and business leaders including representatives from the Saab aircraft company. He is due to meet President Eduardo Frei, as well as the Chilean foreign and defence ministers tomorrow, Swedish officials say Chile is considering buying either Swedish JAS-39 Gripens, French-made Mirage-500s, orAmerican F-16s in a deal, which could be worth up to five hundred million dollars.
