Turkey reports airbase 'terrorism' arrests
Text of report by Turkish TV on 4th January

A man and a woman, members of an illegal leftist organisation, have been arrested in Adana.

According to a statement issued by the Security Directorate, the suspects were involved in the murder of a guard, in a case of arson and in the wounding of a policeman in Adana. The statement says that the suspects were preparing to carry out an act of terrorism on the Incirlik airbase [near Adana] and on a police station in Osmaniye.

In a search conducted at the suspects' homes, the security forces found two hand grenades, two hand-made bombs, a sketch depicting the act of terrorism planned for the Incirlik airbase, a cellular phone and documents concerning their organisation.
