Ethiopians pull out of Somalia

Reports from Somalia say Ethiopian forces have pulled out of border towns in Gedo region in the west of the country.

The Ethiopians are said to have crossed in to Somalia most recently in June last year to attack the Islamic Al-Itahad forces, whom they accused of staging attacks in Ethiopia.

There have been no recent accounts of fighting.

About five-hundred Ethiopians, with tanks and personnel carriers, apparently crossed back in to Ethiopia at the border town of Dolow. There has been no confirmation from the Ethiopians.

Correspondents say the Al-Itahad has recently appealed for an end to conflict in the region.
