German swimmers react to doping ban on coach
The German Swimming Federation has lodged an official protest with swimming's governing body, FINA, over its decision to withdraw accreditation at the world championships in Australia for the German team coach. FINA made the move on Sunday after the coach - Winfried Leopold - admitted giving East German swimmers performance-enhancing drugs in the 1980s. Members of Germany's team have also been reacting to the Leopold affair. Their captain Christian Bremer told a news conference in Perth that his team-mates felt they were being attacked unfairly for something that happened ten years earlier, and that there were cases of drug abuse in other teams too.
