Iran protests over stabbing of diplomat

Iran has protested to the government of Kyrgyzstan about an attack on an Iranian diplomat and his son in the capital, Bishkek.

Reports said the diplomat, Said Javadi, and his thirteen-year-old son were stabbed when they disturbed thieves trying to steal a satellite dish from their roof.

Iran's official news agency said that a senior diplomat in Bishkek had lodged a protest with the foreign ministry and called for the arrest of the culprits.

The news agency said the son was being flown to Tehran for emergency surgery on a stab wound to his spinal column.
