Canada avalanches claim at least 8 lives

Officials in the Canadian province of British Columbia have issued an extreme avalanche warning after at least eight people - most of them skiers - were buried under snow in separate incidents in the Rocky Mountains over the weekend.

Across the border, in the US state of Montana, avalanches claimed another two lives.

Officials are warning that cold temperatures and recent high amounts of snowfall make the risk of more avalanches extremely high.
