Iranian consul wounded in knife attack in Kyrgyz capital

The Iranian consul in Kyrgyzstan and his 13-year-old son are in hospital in a serious condition after an unidentified assailant attacked them with a knife in Bishkek in the early hours of Sunday, ITAR-TASS news agency reported.

Sa'id Javadi received stomach wounds and his son was wounded in the neck when they were attacked at the entrance to their house at about 0100 (2000 gmt Saturday), the agency said, quoting the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry.

According to preliminary reports, Javadi and his son were attacked when they went into their backyard to prevent a man from removing a television satellite dish from their house.

Security forces are looking for the attacker, the agency said.
