Supporter of Prince Ranariddh re-arrested
Cambodian police have again arrested a supporter of the ousted co-prime minister, Prince Norodom Ranariddh, who was released from prison less than two weeks ago. The man, Chau Sokhon -- a military police commander and member of the prince's royalist FUNCINPEC party -- was arrested at Phnom Penh airport as he was trying to leave the country with the help of the United Nations. He was convicted of drug smuggling and imprisoned in June. But the Court of Appeal overturned the conviction and freed him last month. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
