Spanish fisherman missing in storms off Ireland

A Spanish fisherman was missing in Irish waters after being knocked overboard by a wave on Saturday morning, Spanish radio reported.

It said the seaman belonged to the trawler Chirleu, based at Gijon in northwestern Spain.

A number of Irish ships and two Spanish ones were taking part in search operations, which were being hampered by fierce storms in the area, the radio said.
