Non-league Stevenage Borough pulled off the biggest upset of the FA Cup third round when they beat Swindon 2-1 away.

Yorkshire minnows Emley gave Premier League West Ham a massive scare by equalising at Upton Park before losing 2-1.

Elsewhere, Liverpool crashed 3-1 at home to Coventry and Aston Villa fought back from 2-0 down to take Portsmouth to a replay.

Giuliano Grazioli was Stevenage's hero, securing victory for the Vauxhaul Conference side in the 65th minute with a superb goal from 25 yards.

Mark Walters had put first division Swindon ahead in the sixth minute, before Jason Soloman equalised in the 23rd minute.

Emley

Emley's hopes of securing a replay were dashed by John Hartson's 82nd minute goal which gave West Ham a 2-1 win at Upton Park.

The part-timers from Yorkshire looked like pulling off the improbable when Paul David - a supervisor at a hairdresser's - scored with a header in the 56th minute to level the scores at 1-1.

Frank Lampard had put West Ham in front in the fourth minute and Emley suffered another setback seconds later when key defender Neil Lacey was forced to limp away in tears.

But the Unibond League team refused to cave in and their 2,000 travelling supports will be disappointed they did not gain at least a draw.

Other results

Liverpool's defeat by Coventry heaps more pressure on Reds' manager Roy Evans.

Darren Huckerby, Dion Dublin and Paul Telfer were on target for the Sky Blues after Jamie Redknapp had put the home side in front.

Australian Craig Foster put Portsmouth ahead with two deflected efforts past compatriot Mark Bosnich.

But Villa showed their Premier League class against the team bottom of Division One. Steve Staunton pulled one back before half-time but they left it late, Simon Grayson equalising with just two minutes to go.

Watford and Sheffield Wednesday will also replay - they drew 1-1 at Vicarage Road.

Division One Port Vale will look forward to a full house for a replay at Vale Park after holding Premier League Arsenal 0-0 at Highbury.

In all Premier League ties, bottom of the table Barnsley beat Bolton 1-0 at Oakwell while Derby's Italian forward Francesco Baiano helped the Rams knock out Southampton 2-0 at Pride Park.

He scored the first from the penalty spot and Chris Powell added a second.

Cup holders Chelsea play champions Manchester United on Sunday while Everton host Newcastle and Tranmere travel to non-league Hereford.

Wimbledon also have a Sunday fixture, at home to Wrexham, while Spurs entertain Fulham on Monday.
