Bangladesh tribal wepaons proposals

Tribal leaders in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh say they have written to the government suggesting talks on January 15 on the surrendering of their arms.

The letter says a list of rebels and their arms will be brought to the meeting when a time and date for a formal handover of the weapons can be aranaged.

A draft peace treaty between the government and the tribal leaders was signed last month but is still awaiting parliamentary approval.
