Poland and Ukraine open a new check point
The Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma and his Polish counterpart Aleksander Kwasniewski have opened a fifth check point on the border between the two countries. Mr Kwasniewski said the check point -- located at Korzowa- Krakowic would become an important link between the Baltic and the Black Sea regions. The check point has twelve lines which allow thirty six cars to pass at the same time. Mr Kuchma emphasised the importance of developing ties between Poland and Ukraine which have a history of violent disputes over territory. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
