At least four killed in Venezuelan jail violence
Prison officials in Venezuela say at least four inmates have been killed in violence in the country's jails since the start of the new year. The killings took place during disturbances at La Planta jail in Caracas and in the Yare pron. Ya-rayfacility, about fifty kilometres from the capital. Venezuela's jails are among the most overcrowded -- and violent -- in Latin America. Last year more than three hundred inmates were killed in prison unrest.
