US agents injured during Clinton's Caribbean visit

The United States authorities say three agents guarding President Clinton during a trip to the Caribbean were seriously injured on Thursday night when the boat they were using hit a rock.

An official statement said the accident happened when the agents were returning to shore after monitoring the landing of the presidential jet, Air Force One, at St.Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.

The agents were flown to hospital in Puerto Rico, where one of them is said to be in a critical condition.

Mr Clinton and his family are on a private visit to the US Virgin Islands, and are expected to return to Washington on Sunday.
