I have given up making any resolutions because I've never managed to
keep a single one in my life beyond a few miserable weeks at the beginning of
the year!
The new year provides an opportunity to make a fresh start and thus to set
goals, be they long- or short term, but resolutions should not be made simply
because of the date. It's a personal choice.
No, but then it might take me 12 months to complete my resolution, by which time I can make it for next year and thus only have broken it for one day. Good luck.
I was going to smoke 10 cigarettes a day. It's not working. I was going to
go to the gym three times a week, but through no fault of my own when I got there on Monday morning it was so full I walked out after 10 minutes having been unable to use one single piece of equipment. So I still smoke more than I want and am no closer to being remotely fit.
Resolutions must exist! they are like a flashlight for ships in a dark sea.
Sometimes you can't keep them of course but you must try on and on to make
your life reasonable.
That's what I think... A happy new year - the world friends!
I smoked my last cigarette at 23:59 New Years Eve and I'm still going strong.
I've vowed to do this so many times and never lasted this long.
I officially declare that today, Monday 5th January is the first day of the new year
and
everybody who broke their resolutions can have a second go. Me included!
Make some enjoyable resolutions. A friend resolved to drink more alcohol and
watch more television and has been doing well so far.
Made 'em, Believed 'em, Broke 'em!
All in 3 days!
Four days without a smoke, and I feel terrible, I really dont think I can hold
out.
I smoked my last cigarette just a couple of minutes before 1998 - vowed not to smoke again - the incentive (I keep telling myself) is the saving of £30 per
week = £130 per month = £1560 PER YEAR !! I hope this is incentive enough!
By the grace of God, I have made one year of not smoking, which was my last years resolution. For those that would like to quit, You can do it,.......one day at a time.
There is never a good time to stop smoking. I`m at present gutted, as I bought my first packet of fags today since the New Year. My only saving grace is they
only contain 0.1mg of poison ,which is a vast improvement in the addiction
stakes.So I may- be down !
BUT I`M NOT OUT.
I haven't broken my New Years resolutions yet, because I've made a resolution to live this year exactly like I did the last one. Err pass my fags, and my pint won't you...Ohhh and that chocolate cake looks delicious. MMMmmmm.
My resolution is not to drink alcohol, not to smoke, and be a lifelong vegetarian. So far, I am still keeping my resolution.
I forgot to make any - so I will make a resolution next year not to forget to make a resolution the year after - so this should take me satisfactorily to the next millenium.
I started mine early on Christmas Eve, could not see the point of waiting. One week, two days, 2 hours, 45 minutes and 49 seconds. 182 cigarettes not smoked, saving £27.25. Life saved: 15 hours, 10 minutes. Don't make resolutions you know you can't keep. Last year I gave up smoking after 15 years, but I started on the 2nd so I didn't feel like it was a resolution. I haven't had one puff since. It can be done - you just need a little bit of willpower. Happy New Year. Didn't make any, so no problem about keeping them. That is easy. People who already broke their resolutions. That's fast...
I'm not starting yet... That's my excuse anyway. I'll start on Monday because at the moment there are far too many goodies left over from Christmas - and they all need eating up! Am I just being weak willed?
I gave up smoking before Christmas just because I thought that I wouldn't be
able to. I proved to myself that I could give up and after a few days I felt
so much better in myself. I think that resolutions are a waste of time, any
change of habit takes will power, and a lot of it!!!
Last year my resolution was to lose weight. This new year I am 2 stones
lighter - so resolutions can work, if you want them to! |
