Malaysia-Singapore road bridge opens
A new bridge spanning almost two kilometres has opened between Malaysia and Singapore to provide the second road link between the two countries. Malaysian officials say there will be no tolls for the bridge connecting the southern Malaysian state of Johor Baru with the district of Tuas in western Singapore for one month until they agree the level of charge with the bridge operator. Singapore has said it will match the toll levied by Malaysia. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
