Ex-Policemen in Argentina accused of desecrating Jewish cemetery
Senior officials in the Argentine province of Buenos Aires say recent attacks on Jewish cemeteries -- in which graves and monuments were desecrated -- were probably the work of former police officers. The governor, Eduardo Duhalde, said the vandalism was aimed at undermining attempts to overhaul the police force, which have seen more than two-hundred officers dismissed for violence or racketeering in the past year. Four policemen have already been accused of involvement in the bombing of a Jewish community centre in the Argentine capital in 1994 in which eighty-six people were killed.
