Bangladesh cabinet further expanded
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, has further expanded her cabinet bringing the total number of ministers to thirty-seven. Six new ministers have been sworn in by the President, Shahabuddin Ahmed. The move comesdespite recommendations by Western donor countries that the government should have a smaller cabinet. Correspondents say the expansion is aimed at reducing pressure on existing members, many of whom have to look after more than one ministry. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
