Iranian guards seize satellite tv equipment
Reports from Iran say revolutionary guards have seized about two hundred television satellite dishes in the capital, Tehran, as part of a campaign to control Western cultural influences. Several people allegedly involved in the distribution of the equipment have been arrested. Iran banned satellite dishes several years ago in an attempt to prevent people watching foreign television programmes which are considered anti-islamic. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
