Algeria tightens security during Ramadan

The Algerian authorities have announced new security measures in the capital, Algiers, amid fears of an escalation of violence during the fasting month of Ramadan.

The measures include a ban on parking near universities, sports clubs, market places and mosques.

Meanwhile, the Algerian press have reported two bomb explosions that wounded at least seven people.

The reports said a train was derailed when it ran over a bomb planted beneath the railway in the Saida region, south-west of Algiers.

The second blast hit a bus on a road near the mountainous Chiffa region south of the capital.
