Former governor of Hong Kong honoured
The last British governor of Hong Kong, Chris Patten, who oversaw its transition to Chinese sovereignty, has received the award of Companion of Honour in Queen Elizabeth's New Year's Honours List. Mr Patten said he was delighted to receive the award, given for public service, describing it as a recognition for what the whole of his team were able to achieve in Hong Kong.
