Singapore send dredgers to search for crashed airliner in Indonesia
The Indonesian authorities say six dredgers from Singapore are to join the search for the wreckage of the Singaporean Silkair jet which crashed in Sumatra almost two weeks ago. The Indonesian news agency quoted a senior naval commander Admiral Rosihan Arsyadas saying the dredgers would dig into the silt-covered bed of the Musi river, where search operations have been hampered by muddy water and strong currents. The flight recorder was retrieved on Saturday but little other wreckage and few remains of the one-hundred and four people on board have been recovered. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
