Scotland has biggest British New year Party

Tens of thousands of revellers around the country welcomed the New Year at street parties.

Around eighty thousand people flocked to Trafalgar Square in central London to hear the chimes of Big Ben at midnight in what has become a London tradition.

Thousands more watched a firework spectacular at Tower Bridge towards the east of the capital to escape the crowds and traffic congestion.

But the biggest celebration of New Year was in Edinburgh in Scotland wherenearly two hundred thousand party-goers packed the city centre.
