Indian Grandmaster poised for world chess title
The Indian Grandmaster, Viswanathan Anand has qualified to challenge the World Champion Anatoly Karpov of Russia for the world chess championship. Anand beat Michael Adams of Britain in a tie-breaker in the finals of the qualifying matches in Holland. The matches for the world title between Anand and Karpov are due to begin in the Swiss town of Lausanne on January the second. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
