Nine die in Russian fire

Nine people have died in Russia and at least three others have been injured in a fire at a home for disabled people in Siberia.

Several others were evacuated from the building in a village in the Yakutia region.

An official of the Russian emergencies ministry said the cause of the fire, on Monday night, was not known.

Meanwhile, another fire broke out during repair work on a missile cruiser of Russia's Pacific Fleet, in the port of Vladivostok.

There are no reports of casualties.

The Fleet's deputy commander, Valeriy Chirkov, said the military hardware had been removed from the cruiser before repairs.
