Tuesday, December 30, 1997 Published at 08:31 GMT Entertainment Sensational hit for Royal Academy ![]() "Sensation", the Royal Academy's autumn exhibition focusing on the achievements of a generation of young British artists, is being hailed as a giant success. The exhibition, which closed on Sunday, featured a blood-filled head, gory images of dismembered limbs, explicit pornography and a portrait of Moors murderer Myra Hindley made out of children's handprints.
A total of 284,734 people visited the three-month exhibition. On average, 2,800 people per day paying a maximum of £7 went to the exhibition at the 230-year-old London gallery. |
