Four former Olympic swimmers could be awarded gold medals seventeen years after they took part in the Moscow Games and the current medal holders disqualified for cheating.
One of them, Anne Osgerby from Preston came fourth in the 100 meters butterfly in 1980.
If the claim is true then she could be given a gold along with one for her performance in the four by one hundred metres relay team.
Osgerby, now a council rent collector, says the result has affected her life: "Financially I could have made a fortune out of a gold medal, like other people have done. Like Sharon Davies and Duncan Goodhew. They've sold their name because they've won gold medals - and hopefully I'll get my justice."
